About Network Rail

We own, operate, maintain and develop the railway infrastructure in England, Scotland and Wales. Our team all play a role in keeping 20,000 miles of track, 30,000 bridges, tunnels and viaducts, and thousands of signals, level crossings and stations safe and reliable for passengers and businesses.

But what we do goes beyond infrastructure. We connect people and goods with where they need to be and contribute to economic growth. It's why the day-to-day work of every one of us matters to millions.

Our Vision

Together we're shaping a simpler, better, greener railway that welcomes more passengers, carries more freight, and leads the way in sustainability and efficiency.

Simpler

We'll play our part in improving the service we give to customers, unifying the railway to make it easier for people to choose rail, growing passenger numbers and freight.

We'll root out waste and duplication and stop doing things that don't add value.

Better

We will continue to put passengers first, shift more goods by rail, encourage local accountability and be more commercially minded. We'll create a new type of rail leader, invest in the skills and safety of our colleagues, help rebuild the railway with our partners and play our part in rail reform.

Greener

And by making rail simpler and better, we will attract more people to the cleanest, greenest form of mass transport, while reducing our own carbon footprint.

Everyone belongs

We matter to millions, but at Network Rail, every individual matters to us. It's why we're working hard to create an organisation where you can be yourself. A diverse organisation that represents the people we serve. An inclusive organisation where we can celebrate our differences and thrive together.

Our employee networks are a key part of this. Created by colleagues for colleagues, they are a great place to connect, celebrate and support each other.

Our eight employee networks

Employee networks contribute to a more open, inclusive and diverse organisation. They help us to understand our differences and similarities and improve communication around the business.

They also provide support to individuals and teams and offer fresh opportunities to be involved as part of Network Rail.
