Who We Are
The Customer & Revenue Growth directorate operates in a fast moving, reform-focused environment where many of the structures, processes and decision pathways are still being shaped. Our work is not business as usual: we are designing new ways of working across the revenue and customer space to prepare for GBR, navigating complex and evolving governance, and collaborating across multiple organisations. Timelines for our work are often demanding. This brings challenge and ambiguity, as well as a rewarding role, with a requirement to taking ownership and accountability for key reform-focussed deliverables on behalf of the sector, often requiring a bespoke approach to be defined due to the complex stakeholder and governance arrangements in place as sector in reform. For individuals who are comfortable with change, able to build clarity from uncertainty, can skilfully navigate stakeholder and Government decision-making dynamics and are motivated by the opportunity to help shape the future of Great British Railways, it offers challenging, highly rewarding and impactful work.
About the role
The Programme Manager role within the Accessibility & Inclusion team is responsible for delivering sector-wide programmes that improve the travel experience of disabled people across the rail network. These programmes are complex, cross-industry portfolios, requiring strong experience in both train operations and infrastructure.
The role requires an established stakeholder network and the ability to work collaboratively with disabled people, industry partners, and professional networks. The successful candidate will bring expert knowledge of the legislation, regulation, policy, and operational processes that support accessible rail travel.
Due to the nature of this programme, a background in transport planning and modelling is essential, enabling the postholder to navigate complex data sets and transport evaluation systems that underpin accessibility prioritisation and investment decisions across the railway. Experience of working with industry accessibility data and insights to inform government policy and decision-making would be highly desirable.
