About the role

Be at the heart of improving train performance across the Sussex Route-leading route-wide reporting and driving meaningful change through the Process for Performance Improvement (PfPI).

What You'll Do

  • Deliver high-quality, timely train performance reports to senior leaders across the Sussex Route, including Area General Managers, as well as key internal and external stakeholders-supporting informed decision-making across the route.
  • Turn complex data into clear insights, providing the analysis needed to shape and support performance improvement strategies and plans. 
  • Use data and statistical techniques to spot trends, identify risks, and highlight opportunities to improve train performance. 
  • Act as a central point of expertise for performance improvement processes across the Sussex Route, ensuring consistency, clarity, and best practice.
  • Lead the coordination and management of key governance processes, including the Process for Performance Improvement (PfPI) and Management Business Reviews (MBR). 
  • Maintain and enhance performance systems, ensuring data is accurate, up-to-date, and readily available to support operational and strategic decisions. 
  • Take ownership as the 'senior user' of performance systems-overseeing their effectiveness, integrity, and continuous improvement. 
  • Manage and evolve the Performance Manual, ensuring it meets ongoing reporting needs and aligns with wider organisational standards. 
  • Provide expert advice to stakeholders on Joint Performance Improvement Plans (JPIPs), helping to understand their impact on operator performance. 
  • Collaborate with Network Performance teams and operators to develop joint performance reporting that drives shared accountability and improvement. 
  • Review and challenge Performance Improvement Plan and JPIP commentary, drawing out key insights to inform joint performance reviews and actions.

 

Salary: 4B / £35,582-£42,218

Location: London Blackfriars

This is a full-time permanent position. 

 

Remote working opportunity! this role requires working in the office 3 days a week.

Your experience and skills

We're looking for someone who can demonstrate the following essential & desirable criteria:

  • Educated to A-Level standard (or equivalent) in English and Maths 
  • Confident using a range of IT systems, with intermediate to advanced proficiency 
  • Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret data and identify trends 
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively 
  • A solid understanding of the PfPI process 
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage a range of stakeholders 
  • A customer-focused approach, committed to delivering high-quality service

Desirable Skills

  • Confident presenting information clearly and engagingly
  • Knowledge or experience of railway performance management systems
