About the role
When plans change, people look to this team to make things happen. As Resourcing Manager, you'll lead a team responsible for keeping our Operations frontline teams correctly resourced, working with colleagues across the business to make sure the railway has the right people in the right place at the right time.
Rosters are only part of the story. This role is about building relationships, making decisions, and bringing people together to find solutions. Leading a team of Roster Clerks, you'll build positive working relationships to deliver practical workforce plans that support a safe, reliable railway whilst following National Rostering Principles (NRP), fatigue standards and operational requirements. You will lead with training plans, payroll accuracy, as well as advising on roster changes. Strong stakeholder management skills will be key to meeting operational requirements while maintaining positive industrial relations.
As the leader of a busy and reactive team, you will be responsible for developing and supporting colleagues, creating an environment where people can learn, grow, and succeed. The team experiences regular change and development, requiring a hands-on and proactive leadership style that focuses on coaching, capability building, and maintaining high levels of engagement.
The role offers a unique opportunity to develop a deep understanding of Network Rail rostering and workforce planning in Operations, making it particularly attractive for colleagues looking to broaden their operational and resourcing experience ahead of the transition to Great British Railways (GBR).
About You.
You're a confident people leader who enjoys working with others, building great relationships, and getting things done. You'll be comfortable speaking to colleagues and stakeholders at all levels, picking up the phone to resolve issues, and keeping multiple priorities moving at the same time.
You don't need to be an expert in rostering principles or employment terms and conditions from day one, those can be learned. What matters most is your ability to lead people, communicate clearly, build strong working relationships, and keep lots of moving parts on track.
If you're at your best when you're connecting with people, making things happen, and bringing a bit of order to a busy day, we'd love to hear from you.
