About the role
What does the average day look like?
As a Senior Engineer [Power Resilience] you'll be at the heart of some of the challenges shaping the future of railway power. Working across traction and HV non-traction systems, you'll combine technical expertise, problem-solving and collaboration to improve reliability, understand vulnerabilities and strengthen the resilience of our electrical infrastructure. Whether investigating an engineering issue, advising stakeholders, developing technical standards or exploring solutions to future energy challenges, your work will help make our railway power systems safer, stronger and better prepared for the future.
A typical day could include:
- Support the development and maintenance of policy, standards, technical strategy, and guidance for resilient traction and High Voltage (HV) non-traction power systems.
- Coordinate national traction and High Voltage (HV) non-traction resilience assessments, including vulnerability analysis, recovery assumptions, operational constraints, intervention options and long-term investment planning.
- Support modelling, load assessment and capability for timetable, electrification and rolling stock changes
- Support implementation of new technology for traction and HV non-traction systems.
- Provide engineering input to the introduction of battery train system, grid supply resilience, DNO and TNO interfaces
A little bit about the team...
